What is Whiskins

Whiskins is a virtual pet site where the pets are real.

Remember the virtual pets of the 90s? Feed it or it fades. Same deal here, except each pet is a tiny ghost, and a new one is made for every subscriber to @whiskins on YouTube. There are 1400 so far.

They come in two kinds. Numbers 1 to 950 are meringue, piped and given a face by hand, and they live in an acrylic Tower. From 951 on, most are low-poly ghosts made in Blender, living in the low-poly Tower in Subscity. Any Whiskin that stars in a Short is piped in meringue. Same numbers, same town, same hunger.

Name one. Pick one that’s waiting for a name and comment the name on the latest Short.

Feed it. Any comment on a Short feeds the whole town. Put a number in yours, like #18, and that Whiskin gets about three days’ worth.

Go a few days without comments and the town starts to lose its color. Nobody starves. A hungry Whiskin just goes grey until someone feeds it.
